Good Riddance Tropical Insect Repellent

Good Riddance Tropical Insect Repellent

We're fussy about what goes on the kids' skin, so finding a natural, DEET-free repellent
that actually works was a real win. Good Riddance is Australian-made, clinically proven,
and — crucially for where we travel — it's a "tropical strength" formula aimed at the
holy trinity of camp pests: midges, sandflies and mosquitoes. It's the sandflies and
midges that ruin a good beach camp, and plenty of repellents just ignore them.

This 100mL bottle is the size we keep in the glovebox and the nappy bag. It goes on the
family for the dawn and dusk walks, the beach, and anywhere the biters are out in force.
Being DEET-free, we're comfortable using it on the kids, and it doesn't have that harsh
chemical reek that makes everyone gag.

How we use it: our Thermacell holds the campsite at dinner, and this comes with us the
moment we leave that zone. Together they cover just about every situation - the repeller
for sitting around camp, the spray-on for moving around.

The honest notes: natural repellents generally need topping up a bit more often than
heavy-duty DEET ones, so reapply after swimming or a few hours of sweaty kid activity.
And like any repellent, coverage matters — get the ankles and the backs of knees where
the sandflies love to sneak in.

Verdict: a genuinely effective, family-friendly Aussie repellent that earns its spot in
the kit — especially if you're heading anywhere with sandflies and midges. ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
